What's up with all these "co-exist" bumper stickers?"

While helping my daughter, Sarah, in her recent move from Paducah, KY to Somersworth, New Hampshire,
I kept noticing one bumper sticker which appeared more and more frequently, the closer I got to liberal and enlightened New England. Of course, I'm speaking about the "Coexist" bumper sticker which can be seen on the back window or bumper of Toyota Prius' with the occupants inside singing "Cum-bay-a" and "We are the World."

I'd like to see these drivers sport their "Coexist" bumper stickers in places like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, or Northern Nigeria or Somalia. It's really easy to be tolerant when you're driving your Prius in Stamford, CT. and don't have radical Muslims threatening to behead you.

In case you haven't seen the "Coexist" bumper sticker, here's what it says and means:

• C = The crescent moon representing Islam. 
• O = Buddhism
• E =  Science-the scientific equation
• X = The star of David, representing Judaism. 
• I =  Paganism: Wiccan
• S = The Chinese yin-yang symbol.
• T = The cross representing Christianity

On the surface, it seems like a reasonable sentiment: "Can't we all put aside our religious differences and get along?"

These same individuals would find it difficult to co-exist with former President George Bush, or Rush Limbaugh, or the Tea Party. It's easy to call for tolerance for a religion, it's another thing to be tolerant and loving toward the next Tea Party conservative you run into, or find yourself in a car with someone listening to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck. How's that co-existence working out, then?

The liberal mind thinks this bumper sticker is really nice and shows great tolerance and enlightenment. However, I'm sure that if they really gave it some serious thought, they'd realize that these religions DON'T worship the same god, DON'T believe in the same the same things and DON'T teach the same values. There is an incredible gulf between each of these religious beliefs. Islam is a religion that doesn't believe in coexistence with anyone. If you are not a Muslim, you are considered an infidel. There is no in-between. 

For the Christian and the Jew, there is no other god but Jehovah. The reason Jews have never assimilated

throughout the centuries due to their stubborn adherence to Yahweh as the one true God. And, Christians, who also believe in Yahweh as Almighty God, also believe that He has revealed Himself to mankind through his son, Jesus, the Messiah who said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father (God) except by me." (John 14:6), You can't  be a follower of Jesus Christ and believe that many roads lead to God and that all religions are equally valid. 

So when you think about it, these drivers with the "coexist" bumper stickers are either naive, ignorant or delusional. They can sing "cum-bay-a" and listen to NPR during their rush-hour drive, but they are no more enlightened or tolerant than the Muslim radical who's sitting in a cave in Yemen.

Corruption in the IRS? Say it isn't so. Who would've thought that people who work for the government would show an intolerance toward those who want to eradicate their careers. The IRS has always been a blood=sucking leech on society. What would we do without big government programs to redistribute our money to their friends? This is the same IRS that is hiring 13000 new agents to ENFORCE Obamacare (with emphasis on "enforce").

The IRS denies having conducted a partisan witch-hunt against tea-party groups in the run-up to the 2012 election, arguing that its improper targeting of conservative groups was the result of a series of procedural errors rather than a political attack with malice forethought.

But the IRS is keeping the relevant evidence secret, so you will just have to take the agency’s word for it. Lois Lerner, the IRS official in charge of handling tax-exempt organizations, made what appeared to be an impromptu confession Friday during a tax conference hosted by the American Bar Association, saying that groups with the words “tea party” or “patriot” in their names were improperly targeted for additional levels of tax-status review by the agency. Those actions, she said, were “wrong” and “inappropriate,” but she denied that they were the result of political bias against tea-party groups.

When asked how the IRS determined that the actions were not the result of political bias, Ms. Lerner could only say, “That is not how we do things.

Does Ms. Lerner really expect us to believe that these low-level grunts at the Cincinnati IRS decided on their own with no orders from above to target conservative groups? 

" The IRS also stresses that our employees—all career civil servants—will continue to be guided by tax law and not partisan issues."

The funny thing is that the IRS thinks this is a comforting statement. Methinks the "career civil servants" need to be fired. While we're at it, fire the person they reported to. It's high time to name names. 

Apologies? Sorry, but we need more than weak, half-hearted apologies. Please provide the list of those fired from the IRS and confirm that their pensions have been forfeited. Every IRS employee knows what is permitted and what is not. These are serious crimes. Who in the Cincinnati office targeted these groups. Give us the names and stop your efforts to paper over the IRS' criminal behavior.

The Wall Street Journal concludes their editorial on Saturday with this sober reminder: 

Other than the power to prosecute, the taxing authority is the most awesome power the government has. It can ruin people and companies. When wielded for political purposes, it is a violation of the basic contract the American people have with their government. The abuse admitted by Ms. Lerner can't be dismissed in a casual apology on a casual Friday as no big deal. It's a very big and bad deal.

Send in the Clowns

On election eve, I predict that Mitt Romney will win by a wide-margin. I don’t care about the polls which are rigged by the media to depress the Republican turnout.

Here’s why Romney will win—because the Tea Party still exists and the same Tea Party folks that flocked to the polls in 2010 for the biggest sea-change election since WWII, will once again show up on Tuesday. They are just as angry, probably more so because now they get a chance to vote Obama out of office.

Also, the evangelical vote is flying under the radar and not even being considered, but I predict that MORE evangelical Christians will show up at the polls than in 2008 when we were forced to hold our nose and vote for John McCain. Obama has alienated many Christians with his stance on gay marriage, his emphasis on abortion, his mandate that religious institutions have to give out birth control pills, and his continual “dissing” of Israel. All of these are reasons why evangelicals will show up en masse to send Obama on a permanent golf vacation.  

Now on to my post for today: “Send in the Clowns”

• It  was the CIA’s fault.
• It was the State Dept’s fault
• It was Leon Panetta’s fault 
• It's the fog of war's fault....

The President along with Leon Panetta, Hillary Clinton, David Pattraeus, the CIA and the State Dept. are all part of a cover-up. Hillary has blamed all the confusion on the “fog of war.” But we know that Obama was informed of the initial attack within 80-min. (11pm Libyan time).

For over two weeks, the President blamed non-existing events (a YouTube video which no one had ever seen) as well as a spontaneous gathering of demonstrators. He even spoke at the UN two weeks after this event and blamed the YouTube video six times during his speech and never once referred to this as a terrorist attack.

For the past 40 yrs., we’ve made a big deal about Watergate as the political scandal for the ages, but Watergate is a misdemeanor when compared with Benghazi-gate where 4 Americans were killed—needlessly, and then the sacrilege of a political cover-up to protect this President and keep the American people in the dark so he could win re-election.

Reminds me of the lyrics to a Stephen Sondheim song: “SEND IN THE CLOWNS”:

Yes, we’ve already got the clowns, thanks to Obama, Biden, Hillary Clinton, Leon Panetta, Gen. Patreaus, Gen. Dempsey, Susan Rice, the CIA, the State Dept.—they’re already here.

The day I walked away from the protest movement....

Reading about the Occupy Wall Street protests, I am reminded of my own short-lived participation as a “war protester” at the Vietnam anti-war rally in San Francisco on Saturday, Nov. 16, 1969. 


As a college student, I was drawn to this rally even though  I wasn’t certain as to where I stood on the Vietnam War, having recently opened up LIFE Magazine and shocked to see the image of a childhood friend killed in action in Vietnam.


Being a Christian, I was undecided as to whether I was a pacifist or if I believed in picking up arms to defend oneself and country (I've since reconciled this issue). 


I found myself, along with others from college campuses all over California, I marching in San Francisco with 100,000 others to end the Vietnam War.

However, it was at the post-march rally in Golden Gate Park as we were being entertained by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young that I received my epiphany.  It occurred during a political diatribe from Abbie Hoffman who had gained fame as one of the Chicago 8 arrested a year earlier at the Democrat Convention in Chicago and well-known for several books including “Steal This Book.” I heard Abbie ranting about President Nixon and his vice-president, Spiro Agnew. At the same time, the rally organizers were taking up a collection to pay the bills. My friends and I coughed up some cash to throw in the bucket headed down our aisle. At that same moment, I couldn't believe what I had just heard. Abbie Hoffman was telling us to  “Off Nixon. Off Agnew.” I knew that this was code for “Kill Nixon. Kill Agnew.” 

It was then and there that I walked away from the anti-war movement which wasn’t about peace at all. It was headed up by angry demonstrators who clocked in for protests at 8 in the morning and clocked out at 5pm so they could watch themselves on the evening news. These same protesters who called for peace in Vietnam didn't even have peace between themselves and their families, or anyone else, especially those with whom they disagreed.

Because of past experiences and maybe some acquired wisdom, I view the Occupy Wall Street protests with a jaundiced eye. One thing I know for certain is that the media is propping up OWS. Many in the media have been telling us for a month that the OWS movement is the left-wing equivalent of the tea party. The vast majority of tea partiers made it clear that their paramount goal was smaller, limited government; they showed up for peaceful one-day rallies, sang patriotic songs, cleaned up after themselves and went home. The OWS mob is unclear about their objectives; they've overstayed their welcome and they have no intention of cleaning up their mess. They are spoiled children who figure that mommy and daddy will come along after them to clean up the mess they are leaving behind.  

The Occupy Wall Street protest has a definite anti-semitic focus, with signs like:“Blame Jewish billionaires.” One Fox news writer likened the OWS protest to a cross between “Lord of the Flies” and a Phish concert. One other distinguishing characteristic that sets  OWS apart from the Tea Party is their endorsement by the Communist Party USA and the American Nazis.  Unfortunately or fortunately (depending on which side of the political spectrum you’re on), the Tea Party has yet to garner any endorsements from these two Left-wing, anti-capitalism, anti-democracy organizations.

 

In closing, I think these young people have been brainwashed and poorly educated  with their heads stuck in the sand, totally ignorant of the facts. Here they are protesting the Wall Street bailouts when in fact, it was Congress’ Tarp funds which bailed out Wall Street. 

Those who believe in capitalism wanted to let the free market run its course. Conservatives don't believe that any bank or institution is too big to fail, including our federal government. 

These protesters should be marching in front of the White House or marching through the halls of Congress or they should be protesting the outrageous college tuition they are forced to pay. The biggest scam today is academia where tuition has increased many times more than the price of a gallon of oil. 

Instead, these young skulls full of mush are giving government and the vaunted halls of academia a "free pass." Why? Probably because most all of them believe in big government. They all vote Democrat. Most of them, if they vote at all, will be voting for Obama in 2012 and while they want to be heard, they don’t want to shine the spotlight on the true cause of our nation’s economic woes, President Obama and Congress. In that sense, they are pawns serving Obama and the Democrat Party. Just as I did years ago, they would all be better off to pack up and walk away from this misguided protest.
