That Hideous Strength: C.S. Lewis foresaw Obamacare!

This past Friday, Nov. 22, marked fifty years since the passing of C.S. Lewis. Chances are pretty good you didn't hear about this important milestone as the mainstream media spent all of last week waxing eloquent over Camelot and John F. Kennedy. For most of our media elite, it's "C.S. Who?"

The drive-by media has sought to turn JFK into a saint, overlooking his numerous alleged affairs and sexual encounters, as well as ignoring his culpability of embroiling us in Vietnam. JFK sent the first U.S. troops to Vietnam, where there were 58,220 military fatal casualties in a failed war that had no reason, purpose or definition of victory.

C.S. Lewis
What the media elites missed is the lasting greatness of C.S. Lewis who has touched more lives in light of eternity, making JFK's brief 3 yrs as president like the fleeting appearance of a shooting star compared with the brilliance of a harvest moon.

Lewis foresaw the growth of Big Brother in our daily lives. His prescience characterized our present enslavement to statist efforts to destroy our liberty and freedom:
Two wars necessitated vast curtailments of liberty, and we have grown, though grumblingly, accustomed to our chains. The increasing complexity and precariousness of our economic life have forced Government to take over many spheres of activity once left to choice or chance...There is nothing left of which we can say to (our new leaders), "Mind your own business." Our whole lives are their business. (from the essay, "Is Progress Possible?")
C.S. Lewis extolled the beauty of the freeborn mind. In his Chronicles of Narnia, Lewis hoped to immunize young people and their parents against the seductive power of a society run by technocrats who offer us hope, medical care, economic stability and permanent employment, if only we will become the "willing slaves of the welfare state." He writes:
To live his life in his own way, to call his house his castle, to enjoy the fruits of his own labour, to educate his children as his conscience directs, to save for their prosperity after his death--these are the wishes deeply ingrained in white and civilized man. Their realization is almost as necessary to our virtues as to our happiness. From their total frustration disastrous results both moral and psychological might follow. (from the essay, "Is Progress Possible?")
This passage is echoed in the description of the four Great Kings and Queens of Narnia in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. The reign of Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy was a long and happy one, and one of the key features that Lewis highlights is that they "made good laws and kept the peace...and generally stopped busybodies and interferers and encouraged ordinary people who wanted to live and let live" (chap. 17, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe").

In the long struggle against elite statism and liberal "do-gooders" who know what's best for you and your family, we would be much better off as a nation if our president had spent more time reading C.S. Lewis instead of Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals."

It is no secret which author has had the greatest influence on our president and this administration. But for those who are fans of Lewis, we will continue to side with those in Narnia where liberty, freedom, peace, and good laws reside.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig

All You Fox News Haters:
More People Trust Fox For Information About Obamacare Than Obama Or The Democrats.

This is so delicious to just sit and watch the unraveling of Obamacare. This overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system, one-sixth of our economy was done by one man--the smartest man anywhere,
Barack Obama. In fact, if he would've developed the website by himself, he could have single-handedly spared himself all this embarrassment because by his own estimation, he is a better program developer than any of the guys Kathleen Sebeilius hired to create the website.

By Obama's own estimation, he is a better speechwriter than his speech writers, he is a better economist than his team of economic advisers He sits with the heads of businesses and he knows how to run their companies better than any of them. And Obama is braver and more courageous than any of our highly-trained, elite Seal Teams, because Barack Hussein Obama single-handedly took out Osama bin-Laden.

So now we have Obama's "re-write" of Obamacare. He came out on Thursday and said, in effect, that you could NOW keep your present health coverage, at least for another year. And if its been cancelled, well then, it's up to the health insurance companies to "give you back" your old, cancelled, sub-standard policy.

What the smartest man in the room doesn't seem to understand is that you can't put toothpaste back into the tube, once it's been squeezed out. But then again, that's just a minor detail, just a bump in the road. Obama only did this to provide cover for the Democrats. But his primary reason for doing this is to deflect some of the outrage from himself and the Democrats to the health  insurers. If they can't magically reconstruct new policies in the next 30 days, then Obama will be able to blame them for this problem. And guess what, about 40% of American who get their news from Black Entertainment Television, MTV, MSNBC, or Jon Stewart, will believe him.

Obama is trying to stall the anger of Americans until AFTER the November 2014 mid-term elections. He doesn't care who is being hurt by this idiotic law. He just doesn't want it to keep
Democrats from taking control of the House of Representatives and holding on to the Senate.

We might as well get rid of Congress because the President, the Executive Branch is now writing and rewriting legislation. Obama has NO authority to delay elements of Obamacare. He can't selectively enforce parts of it while ignoring other parts. But for this brilliant constitutional scholar, our most high President, the law has never posed much of an obstacle. He's above the law and he and only he can choose which laws to enforce and which laws to ignore.

In a nutshell, Obama and the Democrats are trying to impose on Americans, insurance they don't want, at prices they don't want to pay, while limiting their choices of doctors and hospitals. This is really modern liberalism at work. They really don't care what kind of insurance you have as long as it's MANDATORY. Liberals and progressives love to MANDATE and FORCE their will and vision down the throats of everyone else.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. All these so-called "fixes" point out one thing: Obamacare is a disaster on so many levels. It can NEVER be fixed. It can and should be scrapped.

The Day Superman Died.

I was sitting in church yesterday and the worship leader made some reference to Jesus as being our "Superman". Right then and there, it got me to thinking about today's post.

George Reeves. Look at those "padded" muscles, able
to bend steel bars with his bare hands!
I grew up with Superman. When I was a little kid, I watched Superman on  black & white TV (that's pretty much all there was). In the television series, Superman was played by George Reeves. Even as a kid, me and my friends thought he looked too old and his phony muscles came from the poorly-padded costume that he wore. Still, I was a faithful fan of the old Superman TV series, and rediscovered it in color in the 1960s.

I also remember the day Superman died. June 16, 1959 from a gunshot wound to the head. From the description at the time, it was an apparent suicide. My comic book hero was dead. Unbelievable! Some of the innocence of my childhood died that day as well. The realization hit me that my TV heroes were flawed individuals who had the same struggles as me, maybe more so because they were continually forced into a TV personna that was so disconnected from their everyday life. This truth was brought home again this past summer with the tragic death of Cory Monteith from Glee. Who would have imagined that this handsome young actor would die alone in a Vancouver, BC hotel from a drug overdose?

The sad irony is that George Reeves played a character on TV who always came to the rescue in the nick of time, to save ordinary people from the clutches of death and despair. But in real life, when the actor, George Reeves, faced that same dilemma, he felt like he was alone with no one to save him. I wish he could have met the real Superman--the one who saved me just a few years later.

I did meet the real superman about four years after the death of George Reeves. This Superman came to earth to save mankind and like the comic book hero, he too started his public mission at age 30. The Superman I'm referring to is Jesus Christ. I found him at the L.A. Coliseum on a Thursday night in September 1963. I wasn't even looking for him, but he came knocking on my door as I was seated in the top row of the Coliseum. My heart was pounding and he had my attention.

This Superman, Jesus, the Messiah, was and is the true hero. He's able to do a whole lot more than leap tall buildings in a single bound, or bend steel with his bare hands. He set me free from the guilt of my sins. He offered me forgiveness and a new life. I don't have to wait for him to find a phone booth to change out of his street clothes into his "outfit". This superman lives inside of me by his spirit. He's with me 24/7. He directs my steps. As the Psalmist says, "...he leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul."
Kirsten Powers, Reluctant Follower of Jesus the Messiah
This past week I read the story of someone else who met "Superman", aka Jesus, the Messiah. Kirsten Powers, columnist for the Daily Beast and Fox News contributor and analyst writes in the latest issue of Christianity Today about how she became a reluctant follower of Jesus the Messiah. She says,
After college I worked as an appointee in the Clinton administration from 1992 toy 1998. The White House surrounded me with intellectual people who, if they had any deep faith in God, never expressed it. Later, when I moved to New York, where I worked in Democratic politics, my world became aggressively secular. Everyone I knew was politically left-leaning, and my group of friends was overwhelmingly atheist.
As she herself puts it, she was "creeped out" by evangelical Christians whom she derided as anti-intellectual bigots. But God knew her address and knew how to get her attention. The hound of heaven tracked her down while on a trip to Taiwan. He came to her in a dream, and her life hasn't been the same since. (Read all of Kirsten Powers' story: "Highly Reluctant Jesus Follower" at Christianity Today).

This Superman, Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah, the One who is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6) is at work today opening blind eyes of those who may hate him or despise his followers. Because He is the God of mercy, He delights in revealing Himself to those who are his supposed enemies.

Jesus is showing himself to Muslims and people of other faiths every day in dreams and visions. He is the one true Superman who has come to earth to save mankind, to save us from our sins and to bring us into a relationship with God, the Father. It's not about going to heaven--it's about knowing the one true God, the One who is the creator of heaven and earth, and his purpose for our lives right here and now!

The Biggest Lie ever uttered by a U.S. President

The Big Lie. Perhaps the biggest lie ever uttered by a U.S. President:
"If you like your present healthcare policy, you can keep it, period. No one will take it away from you. No matter what. You will be able to keep your doctor, period."
That was a LIE and we heard it so many times from the Obama's lips. Why did he lie? Because if he had told the truth, he and the Democrats wouldn't have been able to sell Obamacare. But then that's the standard M.O. for liberals and progressives. They can ONLY get elected by lying. They never tell the truth.

If they ever told the truth about their true intentions, very few Americans would ever vote for them. If Obama had actually told voters that he wanted to see an increasing number of Americans out of work and on food stamps, who would've voted for him? If he had told voters that he wanted to "cut America down to size" and reduce our standing in the eyes of the world, who would've voted for him? If he had told Americans that he wanted to redistribute the wealth of the producers and give it to the "takers"--who would've voted for him. He had to LIE to get elected.

Now at least 15 million Americans have had their healthcare coverage cancelled and there will be millions more to follow. Another BIG LIE, because these policies were regulated and most of the policy holders were HAPPY with their coverage. (Read the story of a woman with stage 4 cancer who has had her coverage cancelled and will probably die because of Obamacare. "You Can't Keep Your Doctor." )

But the President and his Democrat allies are rationalizing that these policies were "sub-standard", "lousy" or "skeletal plans." And the President's spokesman, Jay Carney, is likening the Health Insurers to the Wild West where anything goes and unregulated crummy policies were sold to unsuspecting consumers. All of  which is another big LIE and attempt to justify the reason why millions are being kicked off their present healthcare coverage.

Another BIG LIE: The President said that the average family would save around $2400 a month in premiums. WRONG. Most families and individuals are seeing their healthcare premiums skyrocket by hundreds of dollars and their deductible amount is now double, triple or quadruple in cost!

What we have is a President who is a Dictator. He dictates to you and me what kind of coverage we can have and how much we have to pay for it. He determines what is "good" coverage. He determines what is "adequate coverage." He is the Dictator who knows what is good for you because you are too stupid to buy the right coverage for yourself. You're too dumb to know what's best for your family. That's why you have the President and his Democrat allies--they're the smartest and brightest. They will lead you and me out out of the darkness. They will light the way to affordable health care. They care about you--way more than those evil Republicans who want to starve the elderly and babies, and wanted to leave you to rot with your lousy sub-standard, skeletal, crummy health plan as well as your choice of your own stupid doctor, and your affordable monthly premium. How awful is that?!!
