The Rx that's needed in the black community

The "Knockout Game" is symptomatic of an even greater issue in the U.S today.  The Black community needs to "man up" and start addressing its own problems. For far too long, blacks have used whites as their scapegoats, choosing to point the finger at 'white racism' or 'racist cops' or a racial imbalance in the prisons and jails. There's a racial imbalance with many more blacks in prison and jails because they're the ones who are committing most of the crimes!

As Bill Cosby has said,

"It's NOT what the white man is doing to us, it's what we're doing to ourselves! Five or six different children, same woman, eight, ten different husbands or whatever, pretty soon you're going to have to have DNA cards so you can tell who you're making love to. You don't know who this is. It might be your grandmother. (Laughter) I'm telling you, they're young enough. Hey, you have a baby when you're twelve. Your baby turns thirteen and has a baby, how old are you? Huh? Grandmother. By the time you're twelve, you could have sex with your grandmother, you keep those numbers coming. I'm just predicting.”

When I look at the black community, I ask myself, where is the church, especially the black church? What

are you doing? Why aren't you speaking out? Why haven't we heard any 'black leaders' speaking out condemning 'the knockout game'? And again, I believe the fact that the black community has to rely on so-called, self-appointed 'black leaders' is itself part of their problem. They don't need any leaders. Each of them needs to start taking responsibility for what is going on in their own households, in their own community, in their schools.

As Bill Cosby has already stated, they've got the wrong priorities and the wrong values. Instead of buying their kid a $200. pair of basketball speakers, they need to be investing in Hooked on Phonics so their kid can read and speak English.

Many in the black community profess a strong faith in Christ but sadly, their faith never seems to make it out of the church sanctuary and into their homes, community, or at the ballot box. Black Christians don't vote for righteousness, they vote on the basis of skin color. Why else would 96% blacks have voted for Obama?

It's time for blacks to stop playing the "race card" and the "victim card" and take responsibility for their own failures as a people. They need stop allowing liberal educators in their schools brainwash them with a "victim mentality". Instead of attacking Bill Cosby and vilifying the messenger, you need to listen to the message that is coming from one who knows you and is speaking the truth.

Instead of marching for justice, or for more food stamps, try marching to the public schools and declaring you're not going to stand for a 60% drop-out rate any longer. You're not going to put up with the fact that you son or daughter can't read or write or even speak English. Start taking back your schools and your community from black gangs and thugs who happen to be your sons and daughters. Start parenting your own children instead of relying on the schools or television to do it.

more time at home teaching their kids some moral values so the police
don't have to stop and 'frisk' them. 

Society at large needs to take serious action against those who perpetrate violence of any kind, especially in the form of the "knockout game" which is no game, but deadly attacks on innocent people. Punching out some elderly person's lights isn't wrong because its illegal, it's illegal because its WRONG! If we as a society feel no moral revulsion at gangs of black youths pulverizing fellow citizens, then we as a society have lost our moral bearings. As Chuck Colson pronounced 20 yrs ago, we have become the "new barbarians"!

My final thought is that we need to pray for our nation, pray for the black community. We need to pray that the black community will look in the mirror and start taking responsibility for what is going on right under their nose and no longer looking for someone else to blame.

righteousness outside the church sanctuary and into
their homes, community as well as the ballot box. 

At the same time, we all need to look in the mirror and ask ourselves "to what extent am I part of the problem?" What am I doing to turn the tide, or am I just going along to get along? Do I ever speak out? Do I ever correct someone for wrong thinking which comes from believing a lie? Maybe I should be looking for a black child or teen to mentor or tutor, teaching him or her how to read and write. Maybe our churches need to be supporting the Big Brothers and Big Sisters' program. Instead of soup kitchens, we might better spend our time mentoring a young black child and giving him some values and purpose for his life.

We need to stop the political correctness which is de-humanizing us because it provides cover for these hoodlums and their acts of violence. We are so afraid of being called-out as "racists" that we've allowed ourselves to be silenced. Maybe we need to pray for boldness to stand up to the lies of political-correctness and to speak the truth in love to those around us. I'm sure that as you and I pray, God will speak and show us what He'd have us to do and how to do it.

Attorney General Holder speaks in "code"--but I've broken the code, using my special decoder ring.

As I write this post, I'm watching "World War Z" and it's kind of hard to follow the zombie attack on Jerusalem (didn't know zombies were "anti-semitic") and talk about politics. But here goes...bear with me.

Attorney General Eric Holder and the Justice Department on Monday SUED North Carolina to block new state voting rules, part of a growing battle between the Democrat administration and Republican-controlled state houses over election laws and race. Holder said that new legislation in North Carolina would make it harder for many minority voters to participate in the electoral process. He was speaking in a special code but thankfully, I've broken the code, using my Capt. Midnight decoder ring which I received from sending in 3 seals from Ovaltine, the drink of champions.

Now when Eric Holder says that it makes it harder for "many minority voters" to participate in the electoral process, he's not talking about those who are Chinese, or Vietnamese, or those in the Indian community--no, this is "code" (which I have "decoded" using my special Capt.Midnight decoder ring) for black Americans or African-Americans. Apparently, Holder thinks that if you are black, you are too dumb to get an ID, or participate in the electoral process without some form of fraud. If I were black, I would be so offended, I'd grab the nearest microphone to tell off Holder that I don't need his help, and I'm NOT being disenfranchised from the electoral process. I'd tell Eric Holder to mind his own business and stop all this race-baiting. 

Yes, it's no secret that Holder is a true-blue racist. The VOTER ID threatens no one's rights. It ONLY makes it hard for Obama and Democrats to perpetuate voter fraud.

• You need a photo ID to get a drink.
• You need a photo ID to get on a plane.
• You need a photo ID to rent a car, or to rent equipment.
• You need a photo ID to cash a check.
• You need a photo ID to enroll in social security or get food stamps or welfare.
• You need a photo ID to rent an apt. or buy a house or get a mortgage.
• You need a photo ID to buy Sudafed.

Let's just say it right out. Democrats want every illegal, ineligible and dead person to be able to cast a vote and be able to do it multiple times in multiple precincts. They know which way those votes will go and are willing to sacrifice the integrity of the system and effectively cancel out MY vote to retain power. To top it off, they pull out the trusty race card in an attempt to justify it and the media is an oh so willing accomplice. 

If you don't have a photo ID in America in 2013, you're too stupid to vote anyway!

The "contrived outrage" over the Missouri rodeo clown

When Missouri does stupid, they go all the way! I'm talking about their reaction to a rodeo clown who dared to wear an Obama mask (BTW, get your Obama Halloween mask now, while supplies last) as the announcer called for him to "get gored." Talk about contrived anger. The response to this incident by the libs in Missouri and elsewhere is so out-of-proportion!

This is no different than the Islamic crowds marching, chanting for those who have offended Mohammed to be beheaded. The leftists in Missouri and this country are behaving like the Taliban. They're acting as though Obama (the Messiah) has been blasphemed by a rodeo clown!

Of course, you have the AP reporter who had to hunt down the one offended spectator who likened this to a "KKK rally." So now you have a racial incident. The rodeo clown was "racist" and what he did is a hate crime!

The State Fair commission has now called for the members of the rodeo association to prove that all officials and sub-contractors have completed sensitivity training before competing in future rodeos. Are you kidding me? Do you know what sensitivity training is? It's like being "brain-washed"--it's where you are told to keep your mouth shut because almost anything you say or do will offend someone. Sensitivity training is basically a course in "You'd better think like we want you to think, or you're a racist, hatemonger." It's the leftist's attempt to destroy free speech, to basically curb your first amendment rights.

I suspect that the poor rodeo clown who dared to mock Obama will now be audited by the IRS and investigated by our Justice Department for civil rights' violations (hate crimes). 

Does anybody remember George W. Bush being hanged in effigy including the famous "Pants on Fire Tour" led by Ben and Jerry's founder Ben Cohen who hit the road with a 12-ft. tall effigy of Bush? The Left did things like this to Bush every other week including making a movie depicting his assassination. And nobody ever "had a cow." Nobody was ever fired, lost their job, sent to sensitivity training, or anything else. In fact the media loved it and celebrated it because it's OK to mock the sitting President if he happens to be a Republican. When are Republicans going to learn that making fun of Democrats is illegal?

When all is said and done, this was just some guy wearing an Obama mask, parading around as a clown. The real clown is in the White House.

If Obama had a city, it would look like Detroit!

(This just in: Bill Nojay writes in today's Wall Street Journal about his 8-mo. stint at the chief operating officer of the Detroit Dept. of Transportation. Almost daily, he found problems arising along with solutions but implementing them in Detroit was IMPOSSIBLE. You must read this first hand account of how this dysfunctional city is being run.)
Obama has said, “If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon Martin.” And, if Obama had a city, it would look like Detroit. In fact, Detroit is the poster-child and metaphor for what thieves and parasites can do to destroy a great American city. Detroit is our modern day "Mad Max"-- a reflection of where Obama and the Democrat party want to take America

In 1961, the last Republican mayor left office. Detroit has been run by Democrats on an unbroken streak for the past 52 yrs. In 2009 Detroit Public School students had the lowest scores ever recorded in the national math proficiency test over a 21-year history. Only 1.8 percent of students were considered capable of doing college level work. Corruption is rampant, Detroit has been voted the most dangerous city in America. 34.5 percent are on food stamps. Out-of-wedlock birthrate is 75 percent. Yet the city doubles down on Democrat policies and politicians. In a city of 700,000, only 6000 voted for the Republican presidential candidate! 98% voted Democrat! Detroit is a prime example of “getting the government you vote for.”

According to Zev Chafet's book, "Devil's Night: and Other True Tales of Detroit" (this book is about to be re-published thanks to overwhelming demand in recent days)--it's not just liberalism that reduced Detroit to rubble; it was race and racism.

In the early 1960s, the city was segregated along racial lines with blacks squeezed into small neighborhoods. Racial tensions mounted erupting into the Detroit Riots of 1967 which prompted a mass exodus of whites from Detroit, abandoning Detroit for the suburbs and moving into homes that were unfinished with no electricity or water. They couldn’t get out of “Motor City: fast enough.

In 1973, the majority black population elected Coleman Young, a black, radical leftist who did not believe in turning the other cheek. He accused whites of trying to control Detroit from outside the city. During his 20-year reign, Mr. Coleman ignored crime, inflamed racial tensions and built a patronage machine" He went to war with the city’s major institutions and then sought help from the government in the form of subsidies. As Detroit’s government became less and less effective, even middle-class blacks fled the city.

Mayor Young divided Detroit according to race, creating separate layoff lists for white and black officers. He and his handpicked police chief made it clear to the officers that too many tickets and too many arrests were being made in the black community (much as Obama is charging today). One black officer confided to a journalist, “I wouldn’t write tickets for black kids.”

Meanwhile, the increasingly distressed city became a fiscal ward of the state and federal governments. As Ms. Jacoby wrote, by the late 1970s federal grants paid the salaries of up to one-third of Detroit's workforce.

As history shows, sending more cash to Detroit won't fix its breakdown in self-government. Another bailout would merely support its toxic political culture of neglect and corruption.

In closing, there are some wonderful, dedicated Christian groups working to bring hope and restoration to Detroit. In various parts of the city, there are some encouraging signs of renewal, thanks to the prayers and tireless efforts of a number of faithful Christian believers. 

However, here’s my parting thought: Detroit needs more than just a handout, or even an urban renewal campaign. Detroit needs an honest-to-goodness REVIVAL that starts with repentance (a change in thinking, behavior, a radical 180-degree turn in another direction). It would be awesome if some esteemed black evangelist (are there any?) who truly preaches the Word of God would come to Detroit and have a month-long campaign, nightly calling the people of Detroit to repent and get right with God and their fellow man. The black residents of Detroit need to repent for the racist attitudes toward the white man, and especially their hatred for those who are white, conservative Republicans. The black community needs to repent of their victimization mindset and start taking responsibility for themselves and their families. I would also hope that the evangelistic campaign in the heart of Detroit would also draw whites from the surrounding communities who repent as well for their racist attitudes and bigotry and lack of love or concern for their black neighbor.

If there is true repentance, maybe then, there can be hope for change (sounds like an Obama campaign slogan) along with solid teaching from the Word of God on loving God, loving your neighbor, on the Good Samaritan, righteousness and walking uprightly, hating evil and loving that which is good—then maybe, Detroit can be reborn from the ashes of hopelessness and despair

Racial Profiling in not the problem--it's part of the solution.

The race hucksters (you know who they are. But if in doubt, read my previous post) would now like us to believe that racial profiling is racist. In fact, Pres. Obama has suggested that we consider new laws to ban racial profiling. In 2008 after Obama was elected, the FBI and CIA got their orders: No more profiling, no more calling certain Muslims "terrorists" or "jihadists" or "Islamic radicals."

I've always thought that this effort to avoid racial profiling was an idiotic effort with deadly consequences. After 9-11 when we knew that our terrorist attackers were all middle-eastern Muslims, in the name of political correctness, we decided to not racially profile anyone at our airports. Instead, the TSA was told to select "at random" every 10th person in line. Who came up with this idiotic idea? What if the terrorist is the 8th person standing in line? Or the 5th person? Invariably, the person chosen by our brilliant TSA officers is a nun, or an elderly person, or a 6-yr old handicapped child.

If it is true that African-American males are viewed suspiciously, it is probably because statistically, they commit a disproportionate amount of crime. If that were not true, they would probably be given no more attention as supposed suspects that is accorded to white, asian or Latino youths.

Blacks are being told by this president and his attorney general, along with the help of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson that their biggest threat is racial profiling by the police. These so-called back leaders who point the finger at external causes are helping to destroy black america.

Following an incident in Cincinnati in 2001, civil rights leaders organized a boycott of the city and charged the police with abuse of black youth. As a consequence, the police reduced their patrols in black neighborhoods, and arrests declined dramatically, because cops did not want to be accused of racism. During this period of the boycott, a total of 74 shootings occurred in black neighborhoods, leaving 80 people wounded or dead--an 800 percent increase over the previous year's figures of 9 shootings and 11 victims.

In Los Angeles 12 yrs. Ago, gang activity and violence sharply increased after the dismantling of the police gang unit that was accused of racism. In a similar situation in Prince George's County, MD., 61 people were killed in the first seven months of that year, compared with only 71 the entire previous year. Carjackings doubled, and robberies rose 37 percent. The county police reportedly were participating in an informant slowdown, after being accused of racism. Their reported philosophy: "No contact, no complaints."

"If black America continues down this lethal path of self-deception, the protest leaders will not bear the cost arising from the fabricated complaint of racial profiling--no it will be the sons and daughters who live in these

high crime areas which are most in need of protection but will receive none because the police of afraid of being deemed "racists."

All this talk about racial profiling is a diversionary tactic to avoid the real issue of the lack of morality in the black community. 90 percent of black murder victims are killed by other blacks, not white. Today's civil rights' leaders are swatting at gnats and ignoring the elephant in the room. 73 percent of all black children are born without fathers married to their mothers. Today's black leadership is living off of the fumes of racism. It's a cottage industry. They are the race-hustlers who want their people to think that their biggest problem is the white man when in reality, it's other blacks along with a lack of morality. It's time for the black community to look in the mirror and clean up their own backyard.

Obama: Race-Huckster-In-Chief does it again!

I can't keep up with this guy. I'm talking about the President of the United States. Yesterday, I was all set to upload my latest post on "race hucksters", and then Obama gives his now infamous speech to let
everyone know that "Trayvon Martin could have been me thirty-five years ago." I don't think so. Let's give the President a dose of reality here: When Barry was Travon's age he was in an expensive private school in Hawaii and hung at the beach getting "high" with white kids.

In another attempt to bolster his black-identity cred, Obama also noted that he too has heard people locking their car doors as he walks toward them. Well that's because they probably think he wants to steal more money from their wallets! However a different take on this comment comes from former black congressman and Lt. Col. Allen West who says,

"I am a black male who grew up in the inner city of Atlanta and no one ever followed me in a mall. I don't recall any doors clicking when I crossed the street. And I never had anyone clutching their handbag when I got on an elevator. I guess having two awesome parents who taught me to be a respectful young man paid dividends."

Bless his heart, Obama has to insert himself into everything, especially if it involves race. Why? Because he is our Race-Huckster-In-Chief. He is a race-baiter who in his typical Alinsky-style, honed from experience as a community agitator in Chicago, wants to divide the races rather than unite. Even Trayvon Martin's parents along with the FBI said that this tragedy was NOT about race. In fact, George Zimmerman (a registered Democrat) had spent his spare time tutoring young black kids. But you can't let the facts get in the way when you are the Race-Baiter in Chief for the United States.

We have the first black president in the country's history, who through circumstance grew up as a child of privilege, professing to teach us something about race, even though he vacations in lily-white, exclusive Martha's Vineyard, staying in a 7.6 million dollar home where all his neighbors would lock their doors and call the police if Trayvon Martin were walking down their street.

Seriously! Where was Obama speeches on "race" speeches when Channon Christian and Chris Newsom, both WHITE, were kidnapped by 4 BLACKS, beaten, brutally raped, Channon had bleach poured down her throat to try to hide the nasty monsters DNA then suffocated while her boyfriend was raped and shot then set on fire.

I sure don't remember him making any statements about the black-on-black genocide taking place in his home town of Chicago. Since 2008, more than 530 youth have been killed in Chicago with nearly 80 per-cent of the homicides occurring in 22 Black or Latino communities on the city's South side. But why would

he? That would place the blame where it belongs, on a culture of violence and entitlement in the black community.

As National Review columnist Lee Habib has pointed out, if George Zimmerman is guilty of anything, he's guilty of not being black. If he had been black, then there would be no outrage. Obama would've kept his mouth shut. Al Sharpton wouldn't be out trying to incite riots. The media would not even have covered this story, if George Zimmerman had been black. Why? Because in America, the dirty little secret is that the race hucksters and race-baiters like Obama and Sharpton can't get any mileage out of black-on-black crime because that would force them to look in the mirror and start addressing the problems in the black community and its lack of morality. Bill Cosby has taken a lot of heat for his address to the NAALCP (National Assoc. for the Advancement of Liberal Colored People) last year where he told them, "We can't blame white people any longer!"

Until then, Mr. President, if you want to help America deal with the issue of race, I suggest you have another beer summit with George Zimmerman--just the two of you, like you did in Cambridge with those "racist" cops. A few beers, a few laughs, a nice photo-op and you and George Zimmerman will be best buds!!

Do Animals Have Rights? Can Your Dog or Cat Sue You?

Recently, I saw a disturbing commercial airing on Hulu with kids promoting Animal Rights. I love animals as much as the next guy. In fact, as I write this, one of my two rescued dogs, Ellie (a Jack Russell-Rat Terrier mix) is resting on my lap. My two dogs are completely spoiled, and they are showered with love and affection every day. But having said that, I am opposed to Animal Rights, because it is antithetical to the Biblical account in Genesis. More on that in my next post.

Flawed logic of the Animal Rights' movement

Animal Rights activists believe that you are no more special than a rat, or a cat, or a dog, or a chicken. They don't believe in a dominant species, and their argument is the same that was used for racism, one which I heard in my college Black History class years ago. It goes like this: If you believe as the Bible says that man is the head of the woman, and that the woman descended from the man, then you believe that the woman is inferior to the man; consequently, you must also believe that one race is superior and others are inferior,  therefore you are a racist because you believe in the superiority of the white race. Now, they've taken that one step further: You must also believe that one species is dominant over another and that man should be the dominant species in the world. There is no dominant species, and man is no better than any other species. 

That's how the reasoning goes, and logically, it's flawed from the start. First off, just because I believe that man is the head of the woman, and that according to Genesis the woman descended from man, that is no way means that she is inferior. She is created in the image of God and has a different role but it is not one that where she is any less of an equal to the man. The new definition of equality which has gained a foothold in our society thanks to feminism says that to be "equal", you have to be the same and be able to do the same things. In other words, a woman is not equal to a man until she can sign-up for the Navy Seals, or quarterback an NFL team. Once again, flawed logic. Equality means that we are equal in the eyes of God but we don't necessarily have the same function. My children do not make the house payment or pay the property taxes, yet they are equal in the eyes of God. Again, I'll discuss this a bit more in my next post.

Animal Rights activists have their own law schools, their own law review, etc. Does that mean that my two dogs can now sue me? Does it mean that my dogs can take me to court if they don't get their daily treats or their daily walk? Can my dogs divorce me as their master? What's up with that?

Here's what I believe about animal rights. Animals ONLY have rights that we as human beings confer on them. My dogs can't confer rights on anything, except by peeing and marking their territory. Other than that, they don't seem to want to confer any right to our cat, Vive, so she can sleep in our bed at night. What's up with that?  Maybe Vive needs a cat lawyer?

When I hear people talking about animal rights, I realize how far we have fallen as a nation and a people. We have too much time on our hands to concern ourselves with such trivial matters when there are people in places like North Korea who are being starved and tortured. These same people have NO concern whatsoever over the thousands of unborn babies that are killed and aborted every year. They won't lose any sleep over one single unborn child that is aborted; however, they will expend incredible amounts of energy and resources to save some chickens or rats or spotted owls or abused pigs. Am I condoning the abuse of animals--NO. But I also believe that as a society we have misplaced priorities. Because we've turned our back on God, we no longer value those who are created in the image of God, other human beings. More on that in my next post.

The Intolerance of Tolerance

What is the supreme virtue in today's culture? Is it excellence? Honesty? Courage? Truthfulness?

Sorry, these wonderful virtues have all been supplanted by the virtue of TOLERANCE. If you have a child in school, you already knew the answer to the question.

The "tolerance" card trumps everything else. Tolerance is demanded by our government, our schools and many employers for the following groups and subjects. 

Here is a partial list of what we are told we need to TOLERATE: 

• LGBT (in case you don't know, lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, trans-gender). Tolerance means accepting ALL genders including cross-dressers. 
• Islam-- Our media and educators seem to excuse the beheadings, death threats, terrorism, death to unbelievers that is part of Islam.
• Multi-culturalism (every culture is to be respected except for the culture of white-Europeans).
• Religious diversity. All religions are equal and should be tolerated, except for Christianity.
• Global citizenship. It's so jingoistic to continue to believe in American exceptionalism. 
• Tolerance for social justice including black power, total respect for Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan.
• Tolerance for anything that liberals or Democrats do, including their media outlets like CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc.
• The PLO and their demand for Israel to give up Jerusalem and the West Bank.
• Black racism from New Black Panthers, Eric Holder, President Obama (he is in charge of Holder's Justice Dept. Any racism on the part of Holder is a direct reflection of Obama), Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton. 
• Evolution

However, the dirty little secret is that those who espouse the value of TOLERANCE happen to be hypocrites because here is a partial list of what teachers, administrators, government leaders, employers and even the military elite will NOT tolerate. 

There is NO TOLERANCE for:  

• Christians (especially evangelicals. Often lovingly referred to by the media as the "religious right")
• While we're at it, let's also include Jesus, who is cool as long as you don't believe he is "the way, the truth and the life." In that case, we don't care for your Jesus!
• Conservative views and leaders. Do a Google search to see how tolerant university students are towards George W. Bush, Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity. Many  university students and faculty who espouse the value of tolerance would NOT tolerate the speech of any conservative. They will shout them down or picket to keep them from even being speaking on any college or university campus. 
• Fox News
• Any discussion of race or criticism on black behavior or attitudes. This is always seen as racist. 
• Israel
• Patriotism 
• Creationism or belief that God created everything.
• Discipline or corporal punishment. No tolerance for disciplining special-needs children who can disrupt classes daily and sometimes terrorize other children.
• Criticism of Global Warming as phony science.

• Pro-life agenda
• Rush Limbaugh. I mention his name again because you can test the tolerance or the political views of an audience by mentioning his name, or that of Sarah Palin. Just by  referencing Rush or Palin, you will invoke the wrath of many supposedly "tolerant" loving liberals and progressives. 
• Anti-gay agenda. No criticism of LGBT allowed. You will be threatened and shut down if you persist in pointing out that this is radcial agenda that is being forced down the throats of every American, especially our school children.

In my next post, I'll offer up a few more thoughts on tolerance as a value and its destructive influence on  every aspect of our culture.

The One Black Author and Journalist Who Won't Be Mentioned During Black History Month

Let the record show that this is Black History Month. Once upon a time, I actually took a semester course in "African-American History" and it didn't amount to much. I'm over it. My big problem with Black History Month is that it helps perpetuate racism. Instead of this country being a melting pot, we focus on one race of people for a month. What about the history and contributions of Asian-Americans, or Mexican-Americans or Indians?

Sure, I understand that W.E. Dubois was the founder of the NAACP, and Martin Luther King Jr. was a great leader in the Civil Rights Movment and that George Washington Carver was the inventor of peanut butter, but after that, you're left with the likes of Spike Lee or Jay-Z. Why can't we just have history. Period. Most black and white students don't even know about our Founding Fathers and the greatness of leaders like George Washington or John Adams who fought courageously so that we could become a nation--but they sure do know all about the likes of Colin Powell, Maya Angelou and Jesse Jackson.

During this special month, students will be "brainwashed" and reminded of the "great" accomplishments of the first black (or near-black) president of the U.S. I'm talking about the ONE who was going to bring "hope and change" and be the great "uniter," bringing us all together so that there would NO longer be a racial divide in America. How's that working out? If anything, Obama has exacerbated the race problem and actually brought about a greater division among the races.

But in honor of Black History Month, I offer a daring book, "Out of America: A Black Man Confronts Africa" by black author and newspaper journalist, Keith Richburg. Richburg was given the opportunity to live in Africa for 3 yrs. Leaving America for his post in Africa, he writes that he felt like he was going home, to the birthplace of his ancestors, the "Motherland."

Now here's the irony: Many who've read Out of America denounce Richburg as an out-and-out "Uncle Tom".  That these black liberals are so shocked and angry that Richburg, a black man, would DARE criticize Africa seems to prove his  point. Black leaders, intellectuals, state department leftists, and even Bono,  in their effort to be politically-correct, they've pussyfooted around Africa,  ignoring abuses of 'human rights', ignoring the deadly tribalism and murder, so  as to keep the image of  "Africa - the glorious Motherland" alive. We  may, of course, criticize Europe ("the hegemonic western world") but  dare we ever criticize atrocities in Zaire?! How dare we! So it is ironic  that the author's point - that we must be realistic instead of  utopion when  dealing with Africa - is played into perfectly by those so willing to call  Richburg an 'Uncle Tom" or a 'sellout'.

So if you really want to observe Black History Month, get  this book. It's an eye-opener written by a courageous black man who ought to be  celebrated by the black community. Instead, this messenger has been demonized  because of his message.
